thanks for the list, i nearly went with the black macbook but when i was looking in the shop it looked a lot more run down and when speaking to one of the staff they were the same age. I saw lots of issues with the macbooks (especially white) but after speaking with lots of friends and people online i noticed that they seem to have sorted most of them out.
I love it so far and I have only had it for a few days and already a mac convert

Nice list, might come in handy if I ever get a Mac. Ironically a friend of mine brought over his iBook the other day. It ran pretty smooth considering it was a bit old by now. However, they are a bit pricey right now, and the only way to run some games on it would be to install Windows if it's the Macs that support it, or use VMWare, but that would require a good amount of RAM to work efficiently.

you will be suprised how they aren't that expensive, especially when comparing to equivalent specs.
also macs now play most games including WoW, SIMs and loads others. i think the gaming one is more of an illusion now.

just a few i use that arn't mentioned above.
Aurora - alarm clock
camino - great web browser
deepvacuum - rips whole websites with ease
deskShade - puts ur desktop in the dark ages, with no icons
HandBrake - the ultimate DVD ripping software (MacTheRipper sucks compared to this)
iMote - change songs in iTunes with the click of a button
mPlayer OS X 2 - this will play anything that any other program won't
Shiira - THE BEST BROWSER IN THE WORLD! only just out of beta so a few errors, but you must try it.
Taco HTML edit - great for quick edits
