Lots of Dell customers have forced Dell to sell computers with XP again after Dell had tried to sell them only with Vista.

I have a Dell PC four years old and I want to upgrade later this year but I don't want Vista yet. There are problems with Vista itself as well as peripherals and drivers for Vista.

Re XP: From the end of January 2008 PC makers will no longer be able to buy new licences for the operating system. I'll have to buy Vista after that so I either have to buy XP again later this year or hope that Vista and the driver situation improves.
microsoft are in a lot of trouble, no one wants vista including me.

the only reason they have done it is so it is more resourceful on your machine so you spend more on RAM etc, and lets guess who has shares in them companies - oh ye! bill gates.

i brought a mac yesterday because i didn't want vista and i am very pleased with it and would recommend anyone to upgrade.
Vista is so crappy it is not funny.look at all the stuff you have to add to the computer to upgrade. I do not know what they were thinking. And down to the core of Vista it is essentially still WinXP with the flaws still there as well.i will not go back to windows until I do not have to pay to have virus software.
Hey Alex. agreed.  Well, I'm not wanting to be so harsh, but my experience was less than pleasant, despite the fact that it is silky smooth and beautiful.  I felt like I lost functionality in favor of aesthetic.  My system became less efficient w/ Vista, and so did I.  Hopefully this will change, as I know that eventually, we'll all be using it.  I'm just not ready.
mac cough mac lol.

vista is just making people consider other systems such as mac.
It should be up to the customer to decide which operating systems they want, rather then the vendor forcing them in to a solution they feel best.

Windows xp is a good solution for any one since it is a more mature product than Vista and consumes fewer resources.
