I'd say AIM, or GAIM (GAIM more because it supports AIM, ICQ & MSN).

I don't like MSN for some reason, it has nice features and all, but looks too bulky for me. I've even used NAIM! Which is AIM for Linux but DOS style, with the prompt and everything.

Like you have to type /send Screenname

Some users would find that annoying or hard, but I like it. It makes it more interesting, and reminds me of the old days before Windows. Where you had to type run and the code for the program. Or something like that, too far back Tongue

What do you think?
lol, naim sounds like fun to use. but I really don't like trillion, but does GAIM support MSN and AIM together?
i use MSN, Google Talk and Skype and i think my favourite of them all is skype,.
Adium is by far the best.
it suppots; Aim, Jabber, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, ,Mac, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, Google Talk, ICQ, LiveJournel, Lotus Sametime, Novell GroupWise, QQ, SIP / SIMPLE and Zephyr. thats a total of 15 services. all at the same time.

It's also fully customizable, with sounds, skins, icons, emoticons, list layout, window style, uo can change the opacity, where or not it grows when users come on line (vertically or horizontally)

I mainly use it for the MSN service, and only thing it can't do is send nudges, winks and use webcam or voice conference, which i don't use anyway, so it's perfect for me.

One last detail, mac only Smile

I'm not sure what you mean by together, like being on AIM & MSN on the same time?

I don't know, haven't tried that.

But if you or anyone else wants to check it out: http://www.pidgin.im/about.php

Apparently they changed the domain but the name of the product, but it still says GAIM when you download it. Oh well, it's the same thing in the end. They also have a console version for GAIM, which is like NAIM.

ArrowI just noticed how much that rhymed.

I think the GUI is really good with skype

Oh I forgot to mention another good one, XFire. It's very helpful for gamers who like to use IM. However, your other buddies must be using XFire as well in order to talk with them. Comes in handy when communicating with clan members or other game buddies. It won't freeze or interfere with the game at all if you know the commands.

i used to use MSN, googleTalk, skype and Miranda IM, Miranda supports msn, yahoo, googletalk, aol, irc. i like to use miranda because it's small and doesn't take much resource as msn.

but now i don't use any im anymore, lol. just don't have time to chat. only sometimes with googletalk through gmail's interface if there's someone online while i'm checking my emails

AdiumX is great for the Mac, and I've developed a certain affinity toward Miranda IM for the PC.  Highly customizable, great plug-ins.  So far, a better experience than Trillian ever was.  I actually prefer the individual clients themselves, but having multiple clients is a pain and a resource hog.  The only disadvantage to using a multi-service client is that it doesn't always offer all of the functionality you might get out of any one of them alone.  So there's a bit of a trade off.

ye, the one feature i have found missing on adium is voice and webcam exchange and it annoys me Sad
