Well this is sort of PC related, and this seems to be the most appropriate section for it.

I'd like to get this DVD player that plays standard DVDs and CDs, VCD, SVCD, DivX, and also MPEG4, my question is, do I just burn a mp4/DivX video onto a cd and dvd, and the device will be able to play it, or do I need to convert it to specific format?

Thanks,
I'm not exactly sure, but I believe you can play your mp4/DivX on to a dvd and just play it, you might also be able to use a cd. on my dvd player i can play videos on a cd instead of converting to a dvd type format
Yeah, that's what I want to do. You just burn the plain .mp4 file to a CD and put it in and your dvd player plays it right?

Also could you give me the model of your dvd player, so I can look @ the features, and see if it's the same as the one I'm going to get.

Thanks for the help.
Get an upconverting dvd player like the new one samsung uses and they usually will play divx, mp4 etc.I would try newegg.com or tigerdirect.com.
