How about everyone describe their current and future projects? (net related or not) What are some of your goals and dreams, etc.yesterday i was watching "the millionaire show" the new one with meredith viera and she had this young turk on, who had made a list of the "101 things he wants to do before he dies", and on his list was to be on a game show which he can now cross off, but it got me thinking of my own 101 list.
what about you guys? (i'll have to think of mine and then i'll post it)
Well my name is Dave Redfern and I am from Birmingham in England. I started developing sites when I was 14 and since then never looked back.
I own and host around 50 websites ranging from forums to charity websites to arcades. I feel I am competent in CSS/xHTML and currently developing my skills with server side scripting such as php.
Currently me and Justin are very busy developing several different websites including a font download website, a proxy website, a web tool website, open source forum software and more which will all be grouped under a network called network two (
http://www.networktwo.com).
I am hoping the future holds several new sites to the network and general success and development of my web design business and personal projects.
I will shortly be taking the trek to a University to study Computer Science: Web Development to improve my coding skills.
I think thats about it.
Wow, Dave you have alot of projects running. How do you manage it all? I hope you're not close to 14 (j.k.), how old are you now? I see you're developing a slew of sites, and soon heading off to uni, that is super awesome. I want to take classes in forum mgmt, forum design, and promotion, etc. also other computer course work. But, i have yet to find the proper school or online class. I''ll be sure to check out some of your other sites.
I also really would like to get into writing. I am not a writer, have never written anything besides school papers and such, but really am interested and would LIKE to become a writer and take it on as a career.
What the.there's forum management classes now?
Heh, but then again, why not, since it's sort of flows with Web Design and such. Anyway, I doubt those courses are good, you have to practice with an actual forum to pick up your skills. Forum promotion and management is probably the hardest thing a new guy on the web can encounter, because it requires time, and money at times. And you usually need some one else to help you run it. Or you can buy a functionally forum, however, it's not cheap, and you still have to manage it yourself once you take ownership.
Spammers and troublesome members are probably the worst two things you can encounter, aside from your site crashing.
