bit-tech and its sister publication TrustedReviews now have over 1.5m visitors and employ 11 full time staff. They are massively popular with readers and regular fixtures on Digg and Slashdot.
I spent my student days writing for popular online titles including TheInquirer.net and TheRegister.co.uk, as well as numerous offline magazines. I have also written for BBC News Online and researched articles for The Guardian and The Sunday Telegraph national newspapers.
In 2006, I joined a host of industry luminaries to become a regular panellist on This Week In Tech, the number one technology podcast on iTunes. You can catch me there most weeks. You can also see me on Engadget, where I am guest blogger, commenting month
Can you give us a brief bio of yourself?
I grew up in Hereford, England, and moved to Oxford when I started university in 2001. I've stayed here ever since! In the last 6 years I've been Editor of bit-tech, whilst contributing articles to The Inquirer, The Register, BBC News Online, as well as podcasting with This Week in Tech.

What is your educational background?
I studied English Literature, Computing, Law and Critical thinking at school before studying for a Law degree at Oxford.

What are your favorite books? Movies? TV shows? Music? Games? Foods? Beverages?
Books - Lord of the Rings, no doubt (and the same goes for movies!) I'm a big Star Wars fan, so obviously the trilogy there. I quite like Japanese anime, so Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell etc. Western-wise, it's House, Buffy, X-Files, Heroes, Studio 60, 24. The best game I've ever played is Half-Life, and I'm a fan of retro - Street Fighter 2 SCE - classic - Deus Ex for the PC, Quake 3 - and modern stuff, like Company of Heroes.
Favourite food would have to be steak (rump, well done) and there is no beverage on this earth that tastes better than a cold Corona with lime.
-------------------
I noticed you originally studied Law at Oxford University, why did you decide to move to the tech industry?
Tech has always been my hobby - at school I got into the gaming and hardware scene. Law was a great career, but tech was where my heart is. When I left Oxford, I had the choice of persuing either, and I went after tech - I figured I could always become a lawyer if that didn't work out. Thankfully it did!

What is the most enjoyable and unenjoyable part of your job?
Enjoyable - travelling the world and meeting the most awesome people. When you get to talk to and drink with some of the cleverest, most with it people on the planet, you can learn a lot. Seeing the cool toys first also doesn't help! The most unenjoyable part of my job is dealing with companies that don't agree with your perspective on a product. If you slate something and they're unhappy about that, the fall-out can be a pain in the butt.

What are your top five current gadgets?
My Motorola PEBL cellphone; my DS Lite; Apple MacBook; self-built Windows Vista Media Center machine; 1st gen iPod Nano.
-------------------
Which new games console (xbox360, ps3 and wii) do you prefer and why?
Xbox 360. It does everything the PS3 can do (bar Blu-ray) and does it a hell of a lot cheaper, with better games, better on line play and better controller. I like the Wii, but it's got limited novelty value to me.
-------------------
What are your top 5 websites (excluding your own)?
Digg (the range of stuff that turns up there is amazing); Calacanis.com (the guy really, really knows his stuff); The Superficial (for the most amazingly hilarious celebrity gossip); Penny Arcade (for the most amazingly hilarious comic); and Nick Robinson's BBC Blog (http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/nickrobinson/) for the inside track on British politics.
-------------------
Do you have any future plans for either bit-tech.net or other projects? if so can you tell us?
Well, bit-tech will continue to expand this year - look out for a regular podcast and some new staff writers. Myself, I'll be continuing to podcast with the TWiTs, and maybe even start a new venture or two.
