Is a built in webcam in a laptop worth the extra that they are charging for it ?
My nephew wants to buy a laptop - and I feel that it is better to buy a webcam separately - it costs much less - and he can use the savings to buy new software. But all his friends have built in webcams - hence it becomes a case of peer pressure.

No, don't get a built in one.  They are often poorer quality and if as well as making a saving from buying it seperate it also means you can do what you want with the camera.

You can get these ones specially built for laptops anyway which clip of the screen.
