I normally use dreamweaver to design sites but recently i was recommended to notepad++ which is an opensource software.

it works in a similar way to dreamweaver but is a cut down version.  the one thing it doesn't have is all the short cuts but it still highlights different code in different colours.

check it out: http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm

if you know of any other good ones just say!
I'm going to download and try Notepad++Big Grin
if you are serious about coding i would recommend getting it.  it isn't that expensive and save me oads of time when coding.
if you just want to learn or do a few personal sites you can get the whole macromedia sweet for £110 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Studio-Student-T...s=software
really? lol, sneeky b*st**d.

but if you are a student it is a steal.
it basically means that any client, however thing, can use it and not mess it up!
any microsoft product is really bad at coding.  they have released some new software which you can download the beta version called Expressions.

i have heard it is very good but still doesn't beat dreamweaver.

I use Macromedia Studio 8, the whole thing; Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Coldfusion etc. It's what I learned on so I'ts just a matter of me being stubborn now. I'll give it one thing, it sure is expensive (unless you work for an IT dept. with a permanent license Wink )

you're lucky if you get a free copy.
