which operating system will you support or take interest in?

for me it is definatly OSX purely because i like macs a lot.
OSX looks freaking awesome, i alread have vista, it's boring after 30 mins |-)
and will probs try another distro of linux this year.
this new linux is meant to be the best.  it is more stable than others and a lot more user friendly and i think it is trying to target normal people.

vista has some nice features but it is bound to be buggy and seems to drink your computers resources.
I think I will check into linux, or mac. I used to hate macs but I'm really starting to like them
For those that want to see Leopard :

I like the fact that Apple has videos to demonstrate each of Leopard's features. This looks better than Vista Smile And I'd go for either Linux or Leopard. Too bad Macs are a bit pricey.

the way apple promote their products is always really good.  it is the reason the apples are so popular and people want them.

i really want to try a linux system but don't have a spare pc atm and can't risk it on my computer.

Oddly enough I'm not too excited for Vista. I'm sure it'll be great, I just don't really care right now. I'm very happy with XP, Tiger, and Ubuntu. I will eventually upgrade to Leopard and Vista, just not the day they come out. I'll let them work out all the kinks first. Smile

The Direct X 10 stuff looks really good though.
Dave, why don't you try a live Linux Distribution, not as good as having it installed of course, but it gives you the idea.
http://releases.ubuntu.com/dapper/ It runs right off the CD, no need to install to Hard Drive Smile

There's plenty of others one too, but I feel Ubuntu is one the best ones.

This is another one http://www.goblinx.com.br/en/ the feature's aren't amazing, but it looks very cool.
i might give it a whiz on my laptop but to be honest at the moment i am happy with windows (it gringes me to say that).

i am waiting for the mac os leopard to come out and then i might get one.

I am using Fedora Core 6. I have to say that it is a great OS. I am surprised to find the user-friendly nature of this OS. Regarding usage of windows software in linux, I was surprised to find there are equivalent Linux versions of many popular software.

i think i start programming with that next week :o
