Finally, for the first time, my main website and my forum are both xhtml valid. Look, I understand the point of having a standard so that your site is viewable in as many browsers as possible, but I'm not sure how much I care about validation. My previous non-valid code was full of minor infractions. Nothing that would make it unviewable or messed up in a particular browser.
Anybody have an opinion on validation one way or the other?
i normally make all my sites validated but this forum isn't. i eventually gave up trying because if i made it validate it would mess the design up and since the site works in all browsers i thought it would be better to leave it with errors.
i can understand validating sites but eventually you do have to think whether the time you put into making a site validate is more than what you will get out of it. after all for the majority of users on the web wouldn't even know what validation is never lone checking to see if you site is or not.
large sites such as msn, google, amazon don't validate so although it is nice to have a site validate it is one of those things which i can pass. i know my code is good enough and the site would work in all browsers so sometimes i give up trying.
most of the time my errors are only small, e.g. not closing a tag properly so for the few minutes it takes i do it.
some sites such as web design sites, it is vital for you to validate tho as people check these things.
dont think it matters to much on a forum
