Anyone know the pros and cons of these two programs. I need to make a movie this week, but I'm unsure which to learn. I hear they are both decent programs.

Any recommendations?
well i aven't used IMovie before but i have used windows movie maker 2 for a few home videos.  and for as much as this cringes me to say it since it is a microsoft product, it is actually very good and for most video editing tasks it can complete them with ease and as long as yuo don't use all of these crappy effects produces a reasonably professional video.

a con is the limited features to other more advanced systems but then again you can't complains, it is free!
iMovie actually leaves Windows Movie Maker in it's wake, iMovie is truely amazing, and you should deffinatly go for that one. i find movie maker slow and retarted compared the fast, eligat and well thought out design of iMovie.
Well I've used Movie Maker 2 to make my video for school, It worked really good.
I feel Windows Movie Maker is decent considering you are not going to use it for special effects and extra features. At least I have faced problems in doing so. I have not checked iMovie.
Well, I ended up going with MS Movie Maker 2. I chose this one mainly because my Windows machine is beefier than my Mac and I wanted to get it done faster. It's a pretty nice program.

I plan on doing the same video in iMovie at some point and comparing the two products. Some of my friends swear by iMovie.

i would personaly swear by Final Cut Pro HD

IMovie is much better. I honestly wouldn't use any of them. I'm big into video editing so I use Adobe Premier Pro 1.5. Paying for a program is worth it.
