I thought this would be an interesting topic.  i always turn mine off every night but i know some leave it on for months on end.

i can't understand that, it is just wasting money (from electric) and pointless.

what do you do?
Well i restarted mine the other day. because of mac update.

but apart from that, i never turn it off, my mac is soooo quite, doesn't make much heat, and i don't pay the electricity bill.

on mac you can set the four corners of the screen to do something, if i move my mouse to the top left corner of the screen, my screensaver will turn on, and it's password protected Wink i have left my mac on before for nearly 3 months.

It's like saying turning your engine off when stuck in traffic is better than leaving it on.

when infact, you use more petrol to turn the car on than to just leave it running, same with a computer Wink

I love my mac, and how do you do that?

Go to System Preferences and click on dashboard and expose. it's the active screen corners.

2Days 14Hours Smile
5days 8 hours and 30 mins now Smile will be turning it off either later today, or early tommorow morning, as i am traveling back to london!
i don't use a mac but to be honest i don't notice a difference to when it is on for a long time or off.

my computer is quite slow booting up tho because i have a lot of programs running when it starts like 4 IM, AVG, ZoneAlarm.the list goes on up to artound 20 or so programs.

I turn mine off at night. When I leave for more than half an hour but I know I will be back on later, I put it onto hibernate. If I am only going for 5 minutes, I turn off the monitor, the speakers and make sure none of the "num lock" "caps lock" or "scroll" lock keys are lit up on my keyboard.

And I calculate that by doing this every day I save over £25 a year.

ohh my god, u do know that the LED lights in your keyboard, use hardly any power!

i said that to him on msn lol

my keyboard doesn't have any lights on it anyway, when i click caplock or something it pops in the corner of my screen similar to when someone comes online with an IM.
