Don't be surprised to find that sometimes the best comes for FREE. Please check aVast FREE antivirus software. I am using it for last 5 months and as of now there is no attack, updates automatically on a regular basis. Has seven modules for checking Web, Email, Network and other attacks. Isn't it interesting?
I use nod32 and it's pretty good but it sometimes slows down my pc. There are which doesnt slow down your pc but they dont catch any virus and in the other side there are antivirus like norton that slow down your pc a lot but they catch most virii. I dont like many programs running on the background so i disable the antivirus when i play a game, etc.
I use Norton - have been doing so for many years. I have found it to be quite good - but their charges seem very high.
I think I would like to try the avast software. Let us see how it works - I lose nothing by trying !
I use norton, its the greatest Smile Never had any problems with it at all, never lets those bad [censored] viruses through Smile
We expect our antivirus can protect us. But still there are attacks because new viruses are getting created frequently. An anti-virus has to update itself all the time to successfully protect a system.
I have occasionally had viruses come across and make their homes in my computer. But most people say that we should not download anything from the net - because that is where the viruses come from. Even with a firewall - it may happen.
Then what are the options ? Have two anti-viruses ? Nortion does not make a good neighbour and promptly tries to get them thrown out.
If any security package has to protect our PC it must develop and employ a mechanism through which it can check the suspicious signatures or possible attacks. This mechanism has to be pre-installed so that even before any virus signature database updation it can prevent possible attacks. So the success of an antivirus I feel depends on this factor.
for me the quality of Norton  have really gone down and low performance.I prefer kaspersky or avast.kaspersky is the best for me
I use AVG. Works great for Windows and Linux.
Here's a tutorial I followed that really helped me install AVG on Ubuntu:

Dr Small
I go with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0. Its damn good but it does get annoying sometimes because you have to set the level of security for everything
