I am sure we have few Linux users here. The speed at which Linux is increasing it's market share gives me the feeling that finally we have and OS which has the potential to become an alternative to Windows.
Nice to have your views on Linux. I am presently working with Mandriva Linux 2007. It's a new realease and as always it's user friendly. I am not a geek neither a programer. But with some trials I have got it going. It's just like finding a place to stay in a new city, not difficult but you have to just spend some time and some effort - for once.
I've always exclusively used linux for server related stuff. But for desktop, I go for windows as I'm a part time gamer.
I use Ubuntu and it's nice, simple and easy to figure out, after 5 years of windows experience.
I like it's overall look and customizableness.
I'm dualbooting with Windows, and windows eats up my processor when booting.
But it's overall, very easy to understand and figure out.
You just have to do some reading at first

I'm starting with ubuntu. I like it! Not that easy to setup on a ASUS LAPTOP with a ATI grafic card! But overall its cool to have dualboot machine.
Need windows to work. But Ubuntu is great for viewing webpages, media and stuff. Still learning stuff to get more from ubuntu.
Video cards, and sound cards sometimes are the biggest problems that occur on certain Linux distros, but usually there's a driver to fix it at your video card (or whatever is causing the problem) manufacturer's website. A mouse even failed on me, because it was USB, but that was because it was DamnSmallLinux, which is only 50MB.
http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/download.html It's pretty good if your PC ever gets screwed up or is running real slow and you need to access the web. Also good if you have a spare PC around that might be too old to run XP, and at the same time you can play around with Linux.
