The other day i found out that comet (UK electrical store) are doing a deal with any school pupils where they can receive 17.5% off laptops or pcs when purchased.  So that VAT.  How?  Well simply purchase it through your school and then as well as the discount you receive, the school will also receive £20 to school funds.

That is quite a discount and on an average priced laptop you could receive £100 off!

I am not sure if all the schools are doing it but I know that if you go to school this is a nice discount you could receive.
hmmm. intresting.

would never buy a computer from comet.
why not?  they aren't bad prices in the first place, and yes it may lack in support but to be honest i never ask for support from any company anyway (i normally know more than the support team).
True. but the quality of computers there are poor, i ran into one of my friends who had one, the problems with it were bad, genreally because they sell cheap IBM-Clones.
Its only in the uk right?
comet so yes. but to be fair it is only the VAT which is way higher than your taxes so you dave about 12% on everything to us.
