Some years ago I increased my temporary Internet File folder to about 20% of my old W98 computer (2GB) so the folder would have been about 400MB.

I found soon after that my IE wouldn't always find my Homepage when returning to it and of course I thought I had a virus.

Another computer board told me that the folder was so big it wasn't finding the files quickly or at all; They recommended 50MB maximum.

I said I was surprised Microsoft provided a slider to alter the size of the folder, allowing any size right up to nearly 100%! Why did they provide a slider without a warning? I never got an answer.
Now I stick to about 50MB on my W98 computer and 75MB on my XP computer. I've just noticed that there is now a warning and a suggested size between 50 and 250MB on the XP computer.
it's automatically set to 119 MB i think, 'cause i never change it. i don't use IE anyway, and i always clean up daily.
i got a mac, so no IE for me, and my firefox deletes all cokies and browsing information when i close it.
i clean it out with ccleaner, the most effect cleaner i have seen.
Yea, having a big Temporary Internet File is annoying, slows down the comp
You should clean it out at least once a month. Go to Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files , clicking on delete cookies will delete all your saved passwords/usernames and so on. But this could also help speed it up a bit. Some sites will load faster if you don't delete the temp files though, since you already have their content downloaded (banners etc.)
This probably correlates to my post in the recycle bin thread, but once again my paranoia tells me to delete delete delete.
Mine is quite large - I keep deleting and keep going through MY Computer also - but never seem to get rid of all that is needed. I will also try ccleaner. Where can I get it ?
Mine is empty now. Tru to keep it so to.
