Well folks drupal 5 has just been released with loads of new features including a install system so you do not need to manually set it up.
I have published a demo which anyone can check out at http://www.daveredfern.com/drupal/
the admin account can be accessed by using admin123 for the username and password.
if you want to test it out you can download it at http://drupal.org/drupal-5.0-beta1 although i wouldn't use it for a proper website yet as it is only beta and may have some bugs.
they have made some significant changes to the system, especially when it comes to user friendliness, which i think could be the current problem with many not liking it.
well whatever happens i am always going to love it
