The puppy chewed my PC game controller's wire in half, now I'm using my keyboard for the few games that I do play.

I'll grab a new one soon, tried walmart and all they had were some overprice wireless ones.

Are they worth the price?

What kind do you have?
Well I hate buying batteries, so I don't mind the wire, but from what I've heard depending on the brand they are really good; brands such as Logitech
I have something that has the same setup as the playstation controller called Thrustmaster.

i agree, i used to have a wireless keyboard and mousebut got sick of changing the batteries.  after all it isn't like you will be walking all round the house so whats the point of wireless?

buy a wired controller, they are the best, or maybe bluetooth if you have it, rechargeable though. So you just put it on the charging station and your done (at night).
I'd say an Xbox 360 controller, costs less than $40 and it's comfortable. Yes, it does work on your PC, definitely on XP+ idk about Linux or Mac. Get the drivers from the MS website.
Definitely the Xbox 360 controller. you can even buy the new PC add-on that allows you to use the wireless version.  It's bluetooth based, so the 360 receiver that connects via USB to your PC will pair w/ your controller.  I've seen these things at Gamestop and EB Games (err. one and the same!).
