at the moment i think it is a good field of work to go in.

it is cut throat tho, so you have to be good at what you do else you will be stuck in a dead end job.

I think on of the biggest advantages is with most of the jobs you can work anywhere (home maybe?) and whenever you want, especially if you are a freelancer.

there are plenty of jobs and it is now the standard that you know how to use computers for any job.
Well my dad has been in the Computing business since it begain, and has done every aspect of it from database design, to whole systems development, also networking administrator.
He is now Head of I.T for a global property company know as Knight Frank,in which he deals with the I.T Budget for the whole global company, he is also a partner, and is one of the best at his job, in the top 100 of I.T proffesionals in the UK, but this kind of job has a great amount of commitment from it, and works in the main office in london, and at home, he is always thinking about his job, but also has time for both me and my sister, and my mum.

he is often quoted in articles writen for computer weekly and sometimes writes them him self.

aaaaah the money is good tho Wink
i wouldn't say famous, he knows alot of people in high places (such as bill gates) but he isn't know outside of the I.T community.
Well I'm thinking that I.T. would be the think to go for, but it takes a ton of your time, most of the people I know around here, where I live have the 24x7 on-call where someone can call them anytime and they have to try to fix the problem from their home computer or go to where ever the problem is at. So you better have some time on your hands Big Grin

indeed it is.

Big Grin So I bet you learn a bunch from him! Well I wonder who would be on call more a doctor or an I.T. person
i have learnt alot from him, i can use MS-Dos to send spam e-mails, as well as many other things. Also learnt alot about software like lotus, and have even built computers from scratch, and done loads of stuff on networks, we are both still learning from each other, as he doesn't really touch web design/development
Thats really cool!
